It's time for Nightfall '99 and that means great free concerts at Miller Plaza
almost every Friday night.  WUTC 88.1 is one of the official sponsors of
Nightfall, which is now entering its 12th season.

- Tiny Town
This vibrant band draws from blues, jazz, gospel and soul to create a
penetrating rock experience delivered with passion and finesse. Veteran
rockers from The Subdudes, Tommy Malone and Johnny Ray Allen join with Pat
Mclaughlin and Kenneth Blevins to deliver a powerful concoction that is
both "deeply-rooted" and vigorous.

- Maria Muldaur
Since her signature 1970's hit "Midnight at The Oasis," Muldaur has spent
the past 20 years maturing in her artistry, releasing 15 albums and
performing her soulful blues-based music all over the world. Her new album,
Southland of the Heart, evokes the spirit of the South, which she credits

- Fantcha
A native of Cape Verde, off the West Coast of Africa, Fantcha delivers a
Creole-Portuguese blend of Morna (soulful, sentimental folk tunes) and
upbeat dance tunes, distinguished by their complex rhythms. Her "drop-dead
beautiful voice" radiates the joy and diversity of her distinctive music.

- John Mooney and Bluesiana
Named by Esquire Magazine as "King of the White Blues," John Mooney took up
residence in New Orleans where he blended his instantly recognizable gumbo
of blues, soul, gospel and  Afro-Cuban rhythms. This "slide master"
received national attention with the release of his latest CD, Against The
Wall.

- Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group
Known to many by their appearances on "Prairie Home Companion" and "Austin
City Limits," Robin and Linda Williams charm listeners with enchanting

Winner of eight all-Ireland fiddle titles, Eileen Ivers shines as the
premier luminary of the Irish fiddle. A fetching entertainer, Ivers has

Pops Orchestra.

- The Campbell Brothers
Chuck Campbell and his brother Darick stun audiences with their mastery of
the pedal-steel guitar and lap-steel guitar, wielding a spirit-filled style
only heard until recently in the African-American Holiness-Pentecostal
churches. Combined with an energetic rhythm section and knock-out vocalist
Katie Jackson, their 1998 CD, Pass Me Not, inspired praises from blues and
other music aficionados.

- Chubby Carrier & The Bayou Swamp Band
A third generation zydeco performer, Chubby Carrier transports his
listeners to the deep-toned cadence of what he terms "high energy swamp
funky music." Faithful to zydeco's traditional accordion-driven dance
music, Chubby performs a new hybrid sound with glimmers of New Orleans
blues, gospel and funk.
