THRESHOLD CONFERENCE TO FOCUS ON THE FUTURE OF TENNESSEE AS A PLACE OF QUALITY

CHATTANOOGA, TN: Earth Day will be celebrated in many ways by many
different organizations and individuals. People throughout Tennessee will
have the opportunity to participate in a statewide conference being held
in Chattanooga. The conference will explore how the environment, social
concerns, and economics can work together to make Tennessee a better place
to live. he purpose of the conference is to focus the leaders and concerned
citizens within the state of Tennessee on sustainability as a norm for
decision-making and action. It is built around round table discussions,
plenary presentations, and displays - all from prominent citizens of
Tennessee. We will be creating economic, ecological, and cultural
solutions to growing regional demands as we work together with
stakeholders. For a complete listing of events, click here
http://www.jmumc.org/threshold/schedule.php. Convene with others to hear
the experts! Share your perspective! Discuss! Deliberate! Analyze!
Ponder! Argue! Synthesize! Come to consensus on sustainable directions
for Tennessee.

Chattanooga Theatre Centre, 400 River St. next to Coolidge Park in North
Chattanooga
Thursday and Friday, April 22 - 23. Earth Day is April 22.

I highly recommend this gathering. It will be an excellent opportunity to
influence the discussions around sustainability. This will not be the usual
conference with folks talking at us for hours on end. There will be
participatory "round table discussions" that will actually make
recommendations and reports to various institutions. Round table topics
include agriculture, energy, water, forestry, urban planning and so forth.
They have scholarships available if you are broke and still would like to
attend. Hope that y'all can make it to the event and contribute to the
discussions. Please feel free to forward this announcement far and wide.
