i wanted to publically thank the Chancellor for stepping into the
phone situation.  I was sure that he had no intention of us being treated
to a year of phone acrimony.  It also demonstrates his strong commitment to
a form of community that would be well to model among other administrative
offices.

        I wonder, if we can get 300 minute of phone charges from a private
digital vendor for $20 per month, I have found we can buy long distance
cards for as low as 6 cents a minute (wholesale).  At that rate, we could
all have a portable phone and phone cards and reduce our departmental phone
charges.  Compared to last years' charges, this would actually save our
department money.
