Summer 2004 courses should begin showing up on your class list this
afternoon.

Please flag and/or save this email if you wish to use Blackboard. It
contains valuable information and links that you will need later.
Please read the entire email to help make using UTC Online (Blackboard 6)
for Summer 2004 Classes a positive experience.

You can find UTC Online (Blackboard) at:
http://utconline.utc.edu

!!! NEW for Summer 2004 !!!

* Class Title
The Course ID has been added to the Course Title to help you distinguish
between semesters. The Course ID layout for Summer is as follows:
SU041AANTH335001 translates to...
SU04 - Summer 2004
1A - The specific summer semester (Summer Semester 1, AM)
ANTH335 - The class
001 - The section number

* Combined Courses:
Courses that are combined will be combined under a NEW course. If you begin
building under one course and wish to add it to another course, you will
need to copy the information you've already built to the new combined
course. PLEASE look through your Summer 2004 courses and, if you wish to
combine courses, use this form NOW:
http://www.utc.edu/Departments/UTCOnLine/combineSections.html
Filling out this form before the pre-semester rush will enable us to serve
you faster and more efficiently.

## Your Courses ##

Here are some possible issues you may need dealt with and the process needed
to address them.

# Why is my class unavailable? or My students cannot get into the class!
Courses are created in UTCOnline as UNAVAILABLE. This means that only the
instructor(s) can see the class. This gives you the opportunity to build the
class before your students begin using it. In order to make the class
AVAILABLE, you must do so in the Control Panel:
> CONTROL PANEL > SETTINGS > COURSE AVAILABILITY

From your course's Control Panel screen, find the link for "Settings" (under
Course Options)
Click the "Settings" link
On the next page (Settings, find the link for "Course Availability" and
click it.
Change "Make Course Available:" to "Yes"
Click Submit.
The course is now AVAILABLE.

# I want to COPY CONTENT from an course already in Blackboard 6!
1. Go to the Control Panel of the course you wish to copy FROM.
2. Select "Course Copy" (under "Course Options").
3. Select "Copy Course Materials into an Existing Course").
4. Under "1. Select a Course" enter the course ID of the course
you wish to
copy TO (or choose "Browse" to find the course).
5. Select the content items you wish to copy.
6. Click "Submit".

# I am missing one or many classes!
Please use the following form to request that classes be assigned to you:
http://www.utc.edu/Departments/UTCOnLine/assignCourses.html
Please note: In some cases, we may be unable to confirm that this class is
assigned to you in ASIS. In these cases, it may be necessary to
confirm the assignment with your department head.

# A class is assigned to me that I am not teaching!
Please use this form to let us know:
http://www.utc.edu/Departments/UTCOnLine/assignmentError.html

# What do I do with my old class?
Courses from Spring 2004 semester will, of course, remain in place until the
end of the Spring 2004 semester. They will also remain in place for at least
the first
month of the Fall 2004 semester. However, they will NOT be archived by UTC
Online staff. If you wish to keep a copy of your Spring 2004 class
beyond the beginning of the Fall 2004 semester, you should make a local copy
of it.
To do so, go to CONTROL PANEL > EXPORT COURSE, select the sections you wish
to archive, click "Submit". The next screen will have a link titled "Click
here to download the exported Course package." Be sure to click that link
and then SAVE the file somewhere on your hard disk.

## How do I? ##
# I need help setting up or operating my class!

The Blackboard 6 manual is located here:
http://www.utc.edu/doc/bbls_rel6_instructor.pdf

class).
