The History Department is pleased to invite the campus community to a
talk by Poppy Fry, a Ph.D. student at Harvard University and a
candidate for an Assistant Professorship in African History at UTC.

Poppy will be examining the question of Fingo identity in South
Africa during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries (the Fingo being
a South African tribe that were noted for their early support for
British colonial rule in South Africa).

The lecture will take place on Thursday, February 15th at 2:30 p.m.
in Lupton Library, Room 208.

For questions or further information, feel free to contact the
History Department (x4561) or Tony Steinhoff, chair of the African
history search committee.
