The Transformation Project will hold a peer education training in
February. The UTC Women's Center-Transformation Project was created after
receiving a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Violence
Against Women. In the spring of 2003, our office was established to
address the issue of violence against women on UTC's campus. The Peer
Education Group is a student-led corps of volunteers that lead fellow
students in a guided discussion about the issues of sexual assault and
intimate partner violence.

The training sessions are as follows:

Schedule:
Saturday, Feb. 7th 10 AM - 2 PM
Attend either the Feb. 9th or 10th performance of "The Vagina Monologues"
Thursday, Feb. 12th 2-5 PM
Tuesday, Feb. 17th 2-5 PM
Thursday, Feb. 19th 2-5 PM
Saturday, Feb. 21st 10 AM - 2 PM

In order to become a peer educator, all sessions must be completed in
their entirety. There is an evaluation process for the training course, as
well as documentation of participation.

The Peer Education Group is a rewarding and challenging experience. Please
let students know about this training and volunteer opportunity. It may
even be appropriate for internship/service learning credits in some
majors. If students have questions, or are interested in attending the
training session, please have them contact me at 425-5605 or
