Doris Pilkington will be our speaker this evening.

In 2002, the film Rabbit Proof Fence, by internationally accalimed director
Phillip Noyce, hit Australian and international cineamas, exposing the first
time the unimaginable suffering of Australia's indigenous people at the
hands of the government and its policies which collectively were termed "The
White Australia Policy". The government believed that the removal of
indigenous children from their parents was a way to breed out their
"aboriginality."

Doris dedicates her life to traveling the world spreading the story of the
indigenous people of Australia. Her talks center on reconciliation: The
reconciliation between black and white and the reconciliation among
the"Stolen Generation" removed from their families.

We encourage all to please attend this great event and also encourage your
students to attend.

This event will be held in the Tennessee room of the University Center
tonight at 7:00p.m. Hope to see you there.
