Drs. Jane Brower and Beth Dodd recently received $51,900 from the
Tennessee Department of Education to support the Governor's School for
Prospective Teachers 2004, held annually on the UTC campus.

The Governor's School is designed to encourage upper-level high school
students from across the state to choose careers as teachers. The
program will bring approximately 20 students to campus for one month
during the summer, providing all costs for supplies, housing, meals, and
transportation. The participants will learn about topics including:
myths and realities of the education profession, teaching strategies,
resource availability, and applications of technology. In addition to
classroom learning and observation, students will have time for
recreational and cultural activities in the Chattanooga area.

Congratulations to Drs. Brower and Dodd! Your work with the Governor's
School will encourage talented students to consider the teaching
profession as a rewarding career choice.
