Kim Wheetley, Lyndhurst Chair of Excellence in the Southeast Center for
Education in the Arts (SCEA), recently received $110,000 from the Lavine
Production Group to support planning and development for the educational
video series "Instructional Practices in the Arts for High School
Teachers Project."
The purpose of the "Instructional Practices in the Arts" video series is
to enhance high school teachers' content knowledge and instructional
strategies regarding the arts, thereby enabling teachers to integrate
elements of dance, music, theater, and the visual arts into the
curriculum. Mr. Wheetley and project staff will develop outlines and
instructional design components for a series of eight television
workshop programs.
The SCEA will select teachers, schools and practitioners for on-camera
participation in the workshops. In addition to the video series, Mr.
Wheetley and his staff will create a Web site and Print Guide to
correspond with the larger series.
This is the third in a series of video projects which SCEA has
undertaken with Lavine Production Group. The two previous projects
focused on arts education at the elementary and middle school levels.
Congratulations, Mr. Wheetley! Your efforts to produce instructional
videos will help to increase the quality of arts education across the
nation.
