Christi,

We haven't received anything from ASCAP yet.
Our SESAC fees haven't changed. It is BMI that has dramatically
increased.

I'm glad to hear that TPAC has requested a meeting with BMI. I'm
wondering if TN Presenters needs to do the same on behalf of all our
members. Bob-Any thoughts on this?

One problem with this is the timing. There was no advance notice in
order for us to prepare for these increases before we set our budgets!

Please keep us posted on what TPAC learns and also on what the symphony
is doing.

Thanks,
Tania

We at TPAC have heard about this and have actually requested a meeting
with BMI. The feeling is we can't change it but our hope it to make
them aware of the impact. I can tell you our Symphony is very upset and
working on a larger scale response. It is sad to think any company
would choose this time to put in place such a large pricing increase.

I would like to know how others are responding, dealing with and
preparing for these increases? Anyone considering changing their
programming or deal structures as a result?

BMI and ASCAP contracts came in just before I left town so I did not get
to review them completely. It "appeared" that the ASCAP structure was
changing and that might result in a decreased cost to us. Maybe? DId
anyone else get thata impression?

Christi

Hello Everyone,
We recently received a communication from BMI that indicates our they
have a new few structure which will triple our rates beginning in
October of this year.
Has anyone else received this information? Are we, as performing arts
presenters, bound by this? Is anyone fighting this? Is anyone else out
there upset by this dramatic increase? Especially in these tough
economic times?
Please chime in!
Thanks, Tania
