Robert,
We have many similarities in our commuity relationships. I am not sure how in-depth my knowledge might be, but I would be glad to help in any way I can. Feel free to call or come for a visit. But be warned, I am more a cake than candy lady. :-)

Subject: Some questions from a novice

Dear Colleagues,

And let me say right off the bat, you are nicest, most welcoming group of colleagues it's ever been my luck to join. So, thank you. As a new person to my job and this profession there are some questions I'd like to ask if anyone has time to answer them. And if they are hopelessly naïve, I feel safer showing up my ignorance in front of you than I usually would.

1. Do any of you have resident performing-producing groups...like a ballet, an orchestra, a theatre group? How are those structured financially?

2. Do you have "favored nation status" among community groups, by which I mean are there performance groups, arts groups, charities, etc. that get use of your facilities free or for a clean-up fee? Or at a vastly reduced rate? What are the criteria for granting these statuses? How long do they last?

3. Does everybody use a ticket service such as Ticketron or Tickets Unlimited? We have a fall festival here with a 3-day ticket of $35. Tickets Unlimited gets $11 for their service. That is so offensive to me. I have heard there are computer systems you can lease. Anybody got one of those?

If using a ticket service is the best idea, which is the best one?

If any of these questions suggest minefields you're familiar with, please share.

I'm sure I'll have a ton more of questions, so answer these at your peril. I'm going up to lay siege to Darrell in Greeneville on Friday. If any of the rest of you would consider letting me visit you, let me know. I'll come with candy and flowers.
