..many nice things - thanks much!

We're off tomorrow. A week at Walindi Plantation, and then two days on
the M/V Chertan in Milne Bay.

I just spoke by phone to Capt Rob van der Loos on the Chertan, who told
us that we're still the only people booked on this trip. He'd told me
when we booked in May that we were the only ones signed up, and that
the trip would go even if nobody else joined. This trip had been
reorganized in May, I really don't know the whole story, but I'm very
impressed that van der Loos is standing by his commitment. He said
there's a chance we might pick up a couple of Japanese divers on one of
the Entre-Casteaux Islands half-way through, but even with them, this
must be a money-losing proposition for him. Credit where credit is
due.

This should be great for us. I've also heard that van der Loos is a
great dive guide and knows the area very well. The only negatives I've
ever heard about the Chertan are that it can be a bit crowded with a
full complement of 12 divers, and that there are only two shared heads.
Doesn't sound like this will be much of a problem for us this time.

We're not taking any laptops, so we'll be out of email contact from
tomorrow morning until about 1 September.
