I bet it weren't a Greek! :-)

It was probably some Welsh philospher like my mate Taffy and his wife Emily,
who also coined a well known phrase.

Taffy owned a block of land close to a popular sea-side resort. Because of
the number of vistors to the resort - none of whom could find anywhere to
park their cars - he turned his block of land into a car-park and charged
people $10 a day - or part thereof - to leave their vehicles there.

The local council were peeved at this loss of potential income and built a
multi-storey car park closer to the edge of town and the beach at just $8
per day. Taffy began to lose money as more motorists elected to use the
council car park. All but one regular parker - old Tom - deserted him.
"It's time to give up this foolish notion of getting rich through parking
cars." Said Emily. "I can't!" Said Taffy. "I've made a commitment. And
while there's one car per day, Em, I'm never going to give up!"

Hence the expression 'Carpe Diem'! :-)
