In abject fear that this critically important and fascinating thread
might somehow die out, let me try a branching move.

Has, or does, anyone on the list actually use Force Fins? I've never
even seen a pair of these weird looking things on a diver in the water.

David, at Divemasters Pratama in Singapore, seems to be the Singapore
agent and has a bunch of them hanging in his shop. Lots of
endorsements from various macho military diving units around the world
which supposedly use them, which may well be true. (I happen to know
David because he is the Singapore agent for Ikelite, and has been very
helpflu in arranging bimonthly repair trips back to Ohio for my
lemon-flavoured SS200 strobes. He also handles Apex regs.)

John Bantin, of Diver Magazine in the UK, has written a few mildly
positive things about the fins, or at least their inventor, who
recently settled a lawsuit against Rodale's, though to my knowledge
Bantin has never tested the fins nor uses them. I think the lawsuit may
have had to do with tests which Rodale's conducted which the Force Fins
inventor thought were unfair, or something like that. (I can no longer
remember where I read about it.)

But, as I said, I've never seen Force fins on a diver, nor talked to
anyone (except David of course) who claims experience or has anything
to say about them.

Any views?

Robert Delfs (quickly moving to duck under his desk)
