Sadly their stories are little known - and hardly ever sung about!
(And I've been at the Tennessee sippin' whisky!) :-)
Aldo asked earlier about diving 'heroes'.
These guys - even the youngest whose uniform badges haven't even suffered
the tarnishing process to try and make them look a little ancient! - are my
personal 'heroes' of diving! As one of the "old 'n' bolds" said today: "I
can't say that I've liked every diver that I've ever met! But I can say
that I'd trust my life to every Navy diver that I've ever met!"
That may not be entirely true! (In my case, people used to queue up to dive
with me because I was such a coward that they knew that they'd be safe!)
:-)
Mind you! I'd never heard of 'Snarl' or his sidekicks in those days! :-)
