He still is! He left the Royal Navy just shortly after I served under him
in Malta, in '66, and then sailed out to Oz, where he now lives.
Hopefully - when I go over to Western Australia in November for the sinking
of the former HMAS PERTH - I'll be able to catch up with him and introduce
him to Viv. (Providing he hasn't lost any of his charm in recent years,
he'll bowl her over!!!) :-)

But the stories that he has to tell about various operations that he was
involved in would make a hell of a book - and encapsulate much of diving's
recent history. He really is one of the greatest divers that it's ever been
my privilege to meet. (Any 'Tall Tales' of mine would be totally eclipsed
by his - and told in a soft and matter-of-fact drawl that demands a follow
up story!) :-)

No prizes for guessing who my main hero in diving is, is there? :-)
