Sometime, when you're feeling important;
Sometime, when your ego's in bloom;
Sometime, when you feel your opinion
Is the most qualified in the room;

Take a bucket, and fill it with water;
Put your hand in it up to the wrist;
Take it out, and the hole that's remaining
Is a measure of how you'll be missed.

You can stir up the water, and churn it;
You can splash it with vigor galore;
But the moment that you remove your hand,
It remains quite the same as before.

You can make quite a stir in this world,
And make a boastful impression;
But to be what God has intended for you,
Take care, and use great discretion.

Remember that all you accomplish
Comes to nothing without saving grace.
You must give all the glory to Jesus
If you want to win in this race.

The life that you live on your journey,
Whether riches or praises you gain;
Must be filled with a heart that's devoted to Christ,
Or it will have been lived all in vain.

The treasures of Earth will rot and decay;
The things of the natural will perish;
When you are gone from this worldly life
You take none of the things that you cherish.

Only what's done for Christ will last;
Only what's done in His Spirit.
He has conquered Death for you,
So you need never fear it.

If you'll give to Him honor and glory,
If you'll give Him all of the praise
For everything that you accomplish,
Then you from the grave He will raise.

If you serve Him, you'll have treasures in Heaven;
You'll have joy that can never compare
But without Him, you will be nothing;
Without Him, you don't have a prayer.

Remember the pleasures you treasure
Are what you have placed in your cup,
And God will return, full measure,
For the way that you measure up.

God has promised that He will give
Whatever measure you mete.
Will your cup be bitter with wrath,
Or will it be something sweet?

So remember the bucket of water,
And how little difference you make
Without Jesus, your Lord and Saviour,
And start doing all for His sake.

Don't try to make a big splash in the world;
Don't worry 'bout things here below;
Give your life to the Master,
For from Him all blessings flow.
