Hi all.

Thanks to everyone for their input on the buying gear thread and generous
offers. I think I am going to wait until I hit Thailand so I can mooch off
Bjorn!! :) A 20% discount sounds good to me! I just have a real aversion
to buying ANYTHING in pounds actually. Now the research part of this
starts.

>only be able to use it in tropical water (I know you're not a WWW, I've
>*seen* you dive in the English Channel!) My luvverly Mares shortie is
>gathering dust at home - and I wouldn't have used it yet even if I had it
>with me.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be buying the shorty, but I did see an amazing deal
on one here that I came close to plunking down for. I would have except for
the point made above! As for being a WWW, I am a bit. I love the fact that
I can boast that I've dived the English Channel, but I don't know how often
I WANT to do it. It's more expensive to spend 3 days diving in this country
than spending a week on the Red Sea, including flights. Plus, the fish are
much prettier....

And I would be careful with your teasing Huw, I have a picture or two of you
that you might not want to be seen. (insert nefarious laugh here)

>I would even think hard about the fins - I only brought my f*rce fins 'cos
>they are so small and light, and fit neatly inside my rucksack. And as
>they
>curve round the outside of my stuff, they have the additional benefit that
>if anyone tries to razor open my pack <note: yes, this does happen>,
>they've
>got to get through a layer of polypropelene first!

Mmmm, I was thinking of f*rce fins too actually, they make more sense in how
I dive when I reach my cruising level. Geeks unite!

>Mask and snorkel, OTOH, I'd definitely take - partic. if you are going to
>be
>getting prescription lenses (are you?).

Nope, but I've found problems getting a mask to fit my face properly, so I
thought I should buy one and stick with it.

Cheers all.
