That's my policy.  I don't argue anymore, I just lie.  My favorite charter (which unfortunately has been sold due to a divorce) would ask at the end of each dive how much air you had left, & your depth.  Since they knew me (or thought they did) they never checked my guages, so I would tell them what they wanted to hear.
Just like I stopped arguing that my pony bottle was my buddy.  So I'd hook up with at buddy team, then agree with them in advance that if I happened to 'drift' away from them they shouldn't worry about me.  Not that I would recommend this practice to anyone else, and I only did it at dive sites I was familiar with.
I also did it cuz' I was usually a lone diver on the charter, and they would try to team me up with a less experienced diver to sheperd around.  Not that I'm opposed to that, just not all the damn time.
Back on topic, reverse profiles, yep I've done more than a few...why is that wrong? <g>
