My understanding is that the Wright amendment was put
in place to keep long-haul traffic and passengers at
DFW. I found an article (via a Google search!) from
1997 that sheds a little light. Scroll down to the
section titled:

"The Wright Amendment: Send Your Canned Goods to Bob
Crandall Now"

Note the Shelby Amendment which added 3 more states to
the list, including Alabama. Hmmmm, I think Alabama
has a senator named Shelby. Coincidence or not.....!

Is Legend still in business, or have they ceased
operations?
