Within limits of depth and other extreme conditions that may not be possible
with any system of scuba equipment as we normally use the term, I think it's
quite possible for one system of gear configuration to suit every diving
situation. The key word is system. DIR, no matter what the zealots way, is
not a single configuration. It is a system, based on a plate, harness and
wings, but not even a specific plate or wings. All else is variable within
the philosophy of taking what you need and no more.

I think the DIR system does suit EVERY diving situation. What I don't
believe is that a single configuration, even when one supported by the
system, or even that the system as a whole is necessarily the best for EVERY
diving situation.

Is there a way we can get these added to the DIR philosophy? They sound
like great additions to me.
