Gawd, I love Google!!!

A quick search turns up the following:

The Submarine Escape Tower at the Sub School at New London, CT
no longer exists. It was torn down by the "Rickover" navy,
about the time they renamed the school to "Navy Submarine School
Groton" probably because of the thinking that no one can "escape"
from 1000+ FSW so why bother. This was from a personal narative
which I found here:

The Royal Navy's tower still exists, and apparently can be used
by dive clubs. Check this out:

Both towers were 100 feet (30M) tall. I'm guessing that was
100 FFW.

For anyone interested in submarines, especially the old diesel
boats check this site out:

I never saw so many sea stories collected in one place in my
life. And everyone knows the difference between a fairy tale
and a sea story, right?
