Hmm, a real shady character, then. Not a red-blooded law-abiding white
American.

Since my experience with this is mostly outside of America, I suppose not.
I don't recall that they have been shady.  If they were, I doubt his check
would have been accepted.
He was law abiding.  There was no law against purchasing fish at dockside.
I'm not sure about white.  After a day on the dock, even I'm not real white
anymore . . . except my ass

Which is what you're being at the moment.

Needless to say, I didn't bother reading the rest of the message after that
sentence.

Just stopped in to be insulting.  I see.
