Hi,
I was interested in these reports since another one (from a FreeDiving list)
came in yesterday:
At no point in any of the other reports did they mention Freediving AFTER
Scuba.
Could it be two different people?
When Scuba training, I _do_ tell trainees about the dangers of giving air to
snorkellers.
And I tell snorkellers about NOT taking air from Scoobies!
Far too many people think that freediving is just extreme swimming (I
suppose it is!!!)
Cheers
Carol

i thought i'd tell you all about a story i read in the North Wales Daily
Post this morning. it was about an extreme sports fanatic (from North Wales)
who was doing some scuba diving out in Thailand. he had done some training
at around 10m for around 40mins (probably lots of ascents and descents). he
then did some 'free diving' with his friends down to 15-20m. from what i can
gather he wasn't an experienced freediver and obviously wasn't aware of the
risks of freediving after scuba. anyway, his friends said that he never
surfaced from one of his freedives. SWB was probably the most likely cause
of his drowning, but DCI may have been a contributing factor...
this is the first UK (pure) freediving death that i've heard of. no doubt
there have been quite a few spearing deaths.
