Why are you posting through a Rodales chat room?  That's weird.

Anyway, I'm sure some reg tech can tell you the correct torque.  But I just
tighten my hoses down by hand until they are hand-tight and then give them one
light tug with a wrench to snug them up.  If you go too tight you can shear off
the 0-ring and/or strip the brass threads in the first stage.  If you leave them
too lose, you can have the o-ring extrude and cause a leak.  Same thing with the
2nd stages.  I would snug them up gently with a wrench.  The seal is made by the
0-ring not the threads so you don't need to overtighten.

It is a good idea to lube the o-rings with a light dab of silicone grease so
they don't bind or shear off.  The little caps of grease they sell in dive shops
works fine.  You are obviously just doing recreational diving with this setup so
you don't need to use the expensive oxygen-clean grease that you would need if
you were running 100% O2 through the first stage.
