You could also simply go to www.layanglayang.com although it is apparenly an
identical site :-) The best part is the "Articles" link.

LL has been on my list for years. The only person I know who has been there
is Viv, and I used to keep her trip report in my Outlook folder, but lost it
in a catastrophic crash a few months ago :-( Management has changed since
she was there, but I'm pretty sure they are still good. At the recent ADEX
in Singapore, they looked and sounded like they knew what they were doing.

The place is perfect for a NEDFest in Asia! The connecting airport, Kota
Kinabalu on Borneo, is accessible via direct flights from Tokyo, Taipei,
Kaoshiung, Seoul, Hong Kong, Manila and Kuala Lumpur, so our American
friends can either join us in Singapore, or arrange with their travel agent
to fly with UA or AA to Narita, Taipei or Hong Kong and then simply switch
airlines there for a direct flight to "KK" as we Old Asia Hands call it :-)
Our European and Israeli friends can join us in Singapore.

The other reason why this is a great place to have a NEDFest (other than the
fact that it is reasonably priced, as you can see on the site) is that,
being a resort, it is obviously family-friendly. That is a big plus for us,
and for the likes of JM in Bangkok. Non-diving spouse are also more likely
to accept this than a live-aboard. It is also safe from pirates and Aby
Sayyaf speed boats, in that is is, firstly, really in the middle of nowhere,
secondly half of the island is a Malaysian Navy base!

More Asian and Austral-Asian residents might obviously be expected to
participate, too, such as Strike, Viv, Christian, Poe, the Vitouxs, the
Jensens, Angelo, Robert et cetera.

The resort is open year-round except November through January, so timing is
quite flexible. I am quite happy to be the co-ordinator of this, and I just
KNOW that Strike would love to help out, too :-))

So, here are three questions, the answers to which I will collect and
tabulate:

1. Who wants to/and is ABLE to go ? (I assume everyone WANTS to go, but only
able bodies interest me for the purpose of this exercise!)

2. If you want to/are able to go, and the event were to be held between
February and October 2003 or 2004, when would be your first preference and
when your
second ?

3. How many from your family would you expect to participate ?

Let's hear it !

Bjorn
