Strike's 5 foot hose is the length commonly recommended for open water, no
canister light diving by those who claim the right to recommend DIR stuff.
I am a bit more comfortable with my 6 foot hose which, for me, does what
Strike's 5 footer does for him.  If I had a 7 foot hose, I would probably
move my knife to the right side and hook it under that.
