Hi Gang,
Tim and I actually went for a dive in the ocean for once. It felt good; it was cold but not as cold as the lake. There wasn't much swell at Matheson Bay, and the tide was coming in. We went in about 4:45, so since it was so late we took our torches with us. At Matheson Bay you have to do a lot of swimming to find much of any fish life, a lot of sandy bottom. Usually you see a little fish but I guess with all the rain and wind there just wasn't anything much out there. So we went down in about 2 meters of water and swam toward the rocks and around the reef, then on the other side we found a kelp bed and beyond that we found lot of rocks and little caves and crevasses. The Vis was about 5 meters blurred. I have never seen water that you felt like you needed glasses so you could see clearly. I have seen murky water and black water but not near sighted water;-). I can see why my mother needs glasses:). On our way back Tim was frantically blinding me with his torch to get my attention. I went over to investigate, and I saw this rock and I thought sooo, then I noticed that the rock had a couple of eyes, and some arms plastered to the rock. So it was a neat octopus that he found. We saw a few fish and a Large Conk Shell that was moving so we figured it had a creature in it. All and all we had a great time messing around. It started getting late so we started in and got in the shallows, I was practicing my navigation with my new compass. I still need a lot of help. When I came up there was this guy that was fishing there, yelling at me how f**king rude we were and how rude that we were swimming in the shallows back and forth while he was fishing. I am not sure if he was the jerk or we were. It made me mad but Tim kept his cool and said sorry we didn't realize that we were messing with his fishing. We didn't even see his line, and there was no fish to be had anyway where he was. Even when Tim was saying sorry this guy was going on with his trashy mouth and language. Tim told me don't let someone like that ruin our dive, if he wasn't so gutter mouth I would have invited him for a beer for getting in his way. We still had a great dive, but the next time I see someone fishing I will acknowledge him and let him know that I am out there and if there are any fish and not to go near their line. Oh well you live and learn.
Cheers
Sherry and Tim
