Not a fortnight ago a colleague and a superlative photographer wrote
to me, entirely out of the blue under the subject matter of "mea culpa":

When my current fins break, but they're almost equally bulletproof,
that is what I will get and that is why I devised a way of mounting my
(original - Oceanic) spring heel straps without tampering with them in
any way.
Halcyon, probably amongst others, now makes a version of those
original straps which I love to little bits. If memory serves me
correctly Strike also uses them.
