Hello Alfred,

Thank you so very much for the link that you provided. I got excited when I
saw that. I don't know but for some reason (maybe childhood memories of me
and Dad building WW11 models and my love for diving) I've got an addiction to
diving aviation history.

When I was in Guam I dove on the base and there is a seaplane that is
accessible from the base. The vis was awful the day I dove it but I found a
gun barrel that was on the wing. I thought that this was very unusual for
this plane. The plane was an AICHI E-13A1 from what I could make out. This
plane didn't have a wing gun from all of the research that I can find on it.
It did have one gun but its not in the wing.

I lucked out and ran into a guy who was just as big a military history nut as
me. I told him how puzzled I was about the gun.

He grinned and told me that it had bothered him too when he dove it. After
researching the same problem he found some literature that the Japanese had
welded on gun barrels to the wings to throw off American observation planes.

I love the little historical tidbits like this that are not in the normal
journals.

Alfred, you are more than welcome to come dive with me or I will meet you in
PC so we can meet and make some dives.

It sounds like we have alot in common.

Thanks again for the site. I'll forward it on to my buddy.

It looks like I'm going to get my gills wet tomorrow!!!!! Weather is laying
down.

Wish me luck.

Ray
