I for one would love to dive a U boat as I did the Japanese I-169 in Truk
harbor. I'm very much a student of history.

I remember reading how the I-169 was sunk and how the recovery efforts were
done before I made the dive. To see history live itself out in front of me
makes an impact that will stay with me the rest of my life.

I also remember the Capt of the Aggressor was on the dock at The Truk
Continental and he asked if we had dove the submarine. When I told him we had he made
the remark what a peice of s**t dive. His comment made me think I'd never
dive with his operation and I haven' t to this day. He didn't respect each site
on its own merits. To me it was one of the most reverent dives I made,
realizing the efforts made to save the people in the sub and then its dramatic
aftermath.

To the people who fought and lost their lives on these remote islands, the
last thing I would think that they or their families would want, is to be
forgotten.

Take care,

Ray
