Jim Greenlee was wrong on TWO counts:

1. He thought Dan was hit "shortly" after his record dive to 525 ffw.
Dan was hit five MONTHS after that dive. Dan had HUNDREDS of
dives below 400 fsw without a mishap. He did dozens of them in
his July trip in which I was his SOB on everyone of his deep dives.
He was hit in his August trip when he took lessons in TRIMIX!

2. Dan was hit on his dive he PLANNED to dive above 300 ft on air,
a SHALLOW dive for him. :-) The max depth of that dive was
298 feet. He underestimated the SIT time required after his
Trimix dive to do such a bounce. It was his mistake -- he
recognized in retrospect, accepted the consequences, and sued
nobody, not even the McDonald coffee he drank that morning!! :-)

There are considerably more TRIMIX diving fatalities than deep air.

Check the fatality record of the Andrea Doria alone -- a SHALLOW dive
on AIR even by my standards -- 200 fsw, if the EXPOSURE time is SHORT.

In the IMAX documentary "Everest", 15 climbs died.

It's THEIR BIDNESS!

I am much more upset to see innocent people, hundreds and thousands
of them, die from acts of WAR that our president Bush is so keen on
promoting or defending -- when those wars in Iraq, Afganistan, Pakistan,
etc., etc., are NONE OF OUR BIDNESS!

"Know YOUR limit, and dive WITHIN them".

If you can't take responsibility for YOUR OWN action, and am sqreamish
about dive injuries or deaths, take up another sport, like BOWLING! :-)))

I am sick and tired of these "deep air bashing" threads when those
who do the bashing know nothing about those who do; and those who
died or were injured did so on THEIR reasons that are none of our
business, and they did not ask for our permission nor they seek our
sympathy.

Ob diving: Honolulu and Oahu diving SUCKS. :-)

Otherwise, life is good, and I plan to live FOREVER (so far so good),
just to give the indiscriminant deep-air bashers a hard time. :-)))
That includes the Late Brad! <BWG>

Now I am off to more FUN getting thar ... Oz. :-)
