I think more shops are becoming comfortable with it.   The really good shops have
had them for sale for a few years, and offered training.
Depending on your view of things, they're either another way to kill yourself
underwater, or a photographer's dream.

I'm certed and have about 35 dives on a borrowed original Drager, and love it.
One of these days I'll get around to buying the newer Drager Ray.   If it didn't
require I retrain to buy it  (a pyramid scheme),  I'd have it already.   It's ideal
for most Florida reefs.   Besides the normal advantages of rebreathers, it's sherpa
factor is great.
