I have to agree with this.  This list does not seem to contain sufficient
diversity to remain a viable gene pool, if you will.  It has been my
impression that it is a place for those most familiar with one another to
meet occasionally and to discuss activities and issues common to the group
or at least segments of it.  While that has a certain attraction, it's not
the same attraction that once let us, or at least me, to places like Scuba-L
and the rec.scuba hierarchy.  It could probably be changed, but it does not
appear the group, as a whole, particularly wishes that it should.

A very rational approach, one I think I could adopt for myself, but not as
easily as someone, like yourself, who is more naturally gregarious.
