I agree.

My regs, however, are very specifically coloured. Some might recall
that I dive independent twins on "deep" (by my standards) dives
locally. The shell of my primary 2nd stage, the one with the long hose
which I always use whether in twin or single mode, is bright lime
green in colour. It's the one I'd prefer an OOA diver to grab never
mind where it's at (usually in my gob or hanging pretty close
thereto). That's a good reason, but not the principal one why it is
that colour.

The 2nd stage of my secondary reg set is black, on an octopus length
hose and ALWAYS gets attached to the tank at my left shoulder and
routes under my left arm to my mouth. The primary set is ALWAYS on my
single tank or right shoulder tank and routes in DIR fashion. Before
the long hose this one always routed under my right arm.

The primary reason for these colours is that, as best as I am able, I
can readily identify which is which at depth; it's also quite useful
if it were to go pearshaped.

Cheers,

Christian
