In a previous thread in another forum, someone was quite critical of me when
I said that I would risk my life to save someone else but would not
knowingly sacrifice it for anyone other than my wife. My response to that
criticism was that my life is not mine to surrender. Others, my wife,
parents and friends, have a claim on my life that also has to be considered.
In my opinion, your last reason for thinking twice is your best one. A wife
and four kids has a way of outweighing even the healthiest of egos.

I'm not sure I said it before, so I'll say it now. Nothing in my previous
post was intended to suggest you should not have done the dive you did.
That is your decision and I hope you always make good ones. I simply tried
to point out things to think about, things that might of might not result in
a different decision.
