I've ridden lots of busses in places like Mexico, the Phils, Guatemala,
etc., etc. I always sit way in the back. Cannot stand to watch what the
driver is doing. I've also driven cars in those and many other countries. I
prefer that.
It may not be intuitive, but it's easy to catch on. For example, in Mex
City your little side street may have a green light which says you're ok to
cross the 8-lane avenue. But nobody on the 8-lane thingy even looks at
their red light. Takes exactly one day to get used to, no problem. Getting
blown to pieces while having a beer is something we cannot train for. Bad
luck. And I'm sure everyone read about the German girl that left the Bali
club early, then got eaten by the croc near Darwin. I've personally
survived a plane crash with, uhh, minor injuries. Wonder what's going to
get me in the end. Don't really need to make the front page.
