An aircraft containing six divers crashed on an island, approximately one
eighth of a mile from the main land, in the tropics. No one was injured,
but the aircraft was destroyed, and not airworthy.

The divers were the pilot, copilot, a surgeon, an oral surgeon, a nurse,
and a lawyer. All could swim the short distance, since, after all, they
were all certified SCUBA divers, returning from a dive. And, of course,
they had their equipment, so they knew they were okay. They just needed
someone to swim the short distance to the main land, and get help.

The pilot said "I am the captain of this ship. If it goes down, it is my
responsibility to get us some help. I will go.

He suited up in his gear, and entered toe water, but sharks immediately
started to attack him.

He retreated.

The copilot said "I am the Second Officer of this aircraft, so if the
Captain cannot rescue us, I will. He suited up, but as soon as he
approached the water's edge, he was attacked.

He, too, retreated.

The surgeon said "I cannot go; I will be needed to sew up the fool who
does."

The oral surgeon said "I cannot go; I will be needed to pull the sharks'
teeth . . . out of the fool who does go."

The nurse said "I call the shots, and I give the shots. I will be needed
to give one that fool."

The lawyer, knowing that he had no medical training, decided to
volunteer. He suited up, and as he approached the water's edge, he
shouted: Attorney at Law coming! All the sharks lined up and protected
him. As soon as he was fully submerged, he was hoisted up out of the
water by a very large shark, and carried across.

When he arrived, he obtained a helicopter, and returned to retrieve the
other unfortunate divers.

Upon his return to the small island, the pilot asked him why the sharks
wanted to eat him, and his copilot, but assisted the lawyer.

The lawyer responded . . .

(Come on now, you know this)
