I spent a couple of years on a similar vintage and sized carrier, HMS
ALBION, that had been converted to a commando carrier.  I can confidently
state that the result of a giant stride entry is that the fins wind up at
the tops of the thighs, in close proximity to the groin!  Keeping the legs
together and the tips pointing downwards is far, far, far less risky!!  :-))
