Today - Boxing Day - we enjoyed the company of Emma and her partner, Martin,
who are visiting from the UK. Emma's the daughter of Johnny C. - one of my
early R.N. Diving buddies, (and the bloke who saved my life more times than
wot I can poke a stick at!) :-)
I can't believe that she weren't even born when her Dad and me used to do
an, 'Operation Awkward' - an evolution in which, from any part of the ship,
we had to be fully booted and spurred and into the water within three
minutes. (Getting undressed again took about ten-minutes!) :-))
Having sat and talked to Emma, it's almost impossible to believe that the
years have flown past as quickly as they have. Particularly when - being a
younger generation - they look as though they're the sort of folk that we
used to know and talk to as equals! :-)
It was a great day, though. (And the beer reserves took a pounding!) :-)
