Mate! Truth to tell, I'm not certain! :-)
The hotel that I stayed in in Singapore boasted an 'American Breakfast'.
Now this is something that I really enjoy. Usually you can get a chef to
cook the eggs any way you want and then top up the plate with other dishes
from the bay marie (sp?).
I ordered two eggs, sunny side up. Took my plate - with eggs sitting in
isolated splendour - and moved to the side dishes. I helped myself - in
order - to beef bacon; a chicken sausage; a beef sausage; grilled tomatoes,
and hash browns. Next to the hash browns was a sign that said,
'bread-and-butter-pudding'. I assumed - mainly 'cause of the surface
appearance - that it was a savoury version of what I know as
'bread-and-butter-pudding'. I helped myself to a huge dollop. Next to that
dish was a bowl of baked beans! (Let's face it. What cooked breakfast is
complete without a huge dollop of baked beans with dried hairy fish
sprinkled over the top?). Piling my plate high, I returned to my table -
placed between two Japanese couples, who looked aghast at my choice of food.
:-)
I don't know how 'bread-and-butter-pudding' made it onto the breakfast menu,
but I'm here to tell you that custard is not a good mix with eggs, bacon and
baked beans! But unwilling to lose face, I went back for a second helping!
:-)
What has this got to do with camel steaks, I hear you ask! And the answer
is .... nothing! But it don't half make you think about why we eat the
things that we do! :-)
