While staring out of my hotel room window at The Rocks in Sydney the other
day, I was inspired to look into the Bounty mutiny story. On one webite, I
came across the following excellent quote, allegedly from Dr. Samuel
Johnson:

"No man will be a sailor who had contrivance enough to get himself into
jail; for being in a ship is being in jail - with the chance of being
drowned. A man in jail has more room, better food and commonly better
company."
