I never would have believed that a bowling ball could maintain neutral
bouyancy. But I have seen it. El Mero Gordo and I were all by ourselves
(the other divers booked had met Montezuma and as usual Montezuma won.) Viz
was sort of sucky (LT 50 feet) but we dove Punta Tunich and Tormentos. I
was beginning to think Bob had given me a bum steer cause first thing in
the water he took off upcurrent (and the current is REALLY cooking). Had to
really bust ass to keep up and was thinking 'this is not gonna cut it) bbut
he just wanted to get to an overhang where he knew there was a turtle. Nice
turtle but I would have passed on it if I knew where he was headed. Couple
of morays, a big grouper (about supper time sized) hiding in the coral,
played with a pike blenny for a few, some jawfish, an octopus in its hole,
a very pretty high hat and a partridge in a pear tree. Felt good to be back
in the water. I never take my camera on the first dive of a trip (and I
always wish I had) but tomorrow I will take it. Tomorrow morning diving
with Pasqual again and then doing a twinite with Ventura.

Things are returning to normal (if 4 cruise ships is normal.)
