Just thought that everyone would like to know that DAN has denied the
insurance claim of at least one of the families who lost divers aboard
the M/V Wave Dancer in Belize on October 8. Apparently they decided
that if a boat capsizes during a hurricane it is not a "diving
accident," and so claims are not payable under their policies. We
assume that DAN will therefore deny the claims for all 17 of the divers
killed in the tragedy. This means that the families will not receive
the death benefit and will also be unable to recover the cost of lost
gear, etc.

Those who pay for higher levels of DAN insurance coverage might want to
take note of this.
