Strike, you may be an odd person, but never the odd person out. I go
with YOUR vote. :-)

As I had said before, it makes no difference how anyone votes, the end
result will be exactly the same -- a spammer will simply sub, spam, and
unsub. It's all an exercise in pedodentistry and futility. :-) But
some folks hold Specialty Patches in those skills.

Some voting process we had. No statement of process. No statement
of what the vote is about. No time limit set to vote. No counting.
Smelled like a rat's arse to me. :-) So, we all end up at exactly
where we were.

Stop spam? Only IDIOTS would be stopped. Spammers are NOT idiots. :-)
Stop forgers? Only the gullible would buy that one. I know the person
     I've never forged any post. I ain't Chicken Shit. :-) BUt I've
been told how EASY it is to forge someone else's name and post.
I know the person who posted in Scuba-L in the name of Nick's
njs initials during his massacre. :-) It was VERY FUNNY. But
Nick wasn't amused, but could do NOTHING about tracing it.

So, what has this great exercise accomplished?

I can't wait for the next "vote". :-))

But it gives those folks a sense of ACCOMPLISHMENT, in having exercised
some form of a pseudo-democratic process. without bothering to even
DISCUSS the meaning of the vote, or what it hopes to accomplish.

What we have actually STOPPED, now that the great gate had been declared
"private" but is PUBLIC and perfectly OPEN, is the team of Angels who
had been dancing on the tip of the pins, from stopping to dance and SPAM
the List with forged names of Jesus! Well. actually those angels were
not stopped at all. They were just laughing so hard chanting "Angels
fear to rush in where Fools tread" ... or something like that. :-)

The mention of Jesus, especially at Easter time, is NOT a sacriligeous
statement. Jesus was a REAL person, in the days of Scuba-L, who was
also an internet big-shot in a foreign country, who FORGED posts in
Scuba-L, and for the first time ever in the annals of Scuba-L, we had
Nick, Jeff, and Snarl (you remember him, don't you? :-)) working as
a TEAM trying to bust this forger -- to NO AVAIL.

So much for the security idea.

Just another bit of HISTORY to remind some folks that this is still the
REAL WORLD. The Cyberspace fantasy is only in the mind of those who
choose to fantasize, to make themselves feel good. :-)

Ah yes, back to the all important question you raised, Strike.

How many camels can fit through the eye of a needle?

The only CORRECT, as well as POLITICALLY CORRECT, answer to that
question is:

How many would you like to fit through, Sir? :-)

G'Day.
