I sincerely hope everyone had a great holiday season! I'm up doing some
work,
but I wanted to take a peek around at some new equipment !!!

BTW, is anyone on the list going to be at Sea Rovers in Boston this
March? Perhaps we could hook up. I think Josh will be a lot more
interested this year after his diving escapades last year. Jonathan is
probably still a bit too young though.

It's that time of year again... Time to think about the next/newest toy :^)

I was wondering if anyone on this list had experience with either the

Olympus C5050
or
Nikon D100

or, failing those two any good recommendations for a similarly positioned
piece of gear (i.e. 5mp range or better).

for underwater use? For the Olympus (which is quite a bit less expensive)
I could either go with the Olympus Lexan housing or the Light and Motion
Tetra 5050.

The Olympus camera is ~$600, the housing is relative inexpensive -
~$150-175, good to 130' but last year we "pressure tested" the C3030
with its housing to about 225' :^)

The L&M is expensive - $1500 for the housing alone, $2700 for a complete
travel package, but allows quite a bit more options...

The Nikon D100 itself is ~$1500 and the the housing is $2700 while the
travel
package is $4k...

Big difference and I'm not sure that the difference is worth it... $750
(low end)
$3300 (mid range) vs $5500 (high end)...

Of course, no matter which one I get there will probably be at least another
$500 of options/etc that I'll need.

Carl
