I agree...the quality of instruction makes all the difference in the world.
Ask questions to each of the dive instructors.  How they answer tells a lot.
I had some "fears" and the instructor who was patient and talked with me
about it won out over the instructor who just said, you have to do it.
Patience is a good quality in an instructor, no matter which affiliation.
