One big difference between the Solution series and the Vyper is a change
from wet contacts to pushbuttons, enabling some function changes while
submerged. The Vyper also has backlighting. The Vyper uses Suunto's
RGBM decompression algorithm; I think (long memory reach here) that the
Solution Alpha/Nitrox used a Haldane variation. All Suunto computers
are rated on the conservative side, which suits me fine given my age and
state of physical condition.

It is possible to 'reset' the Vyper by removing the battery, thereby
enabling one to continue to dive with it. You lose all of you history,
though, and the computer then cannot calculate the diver's nitrogen or
O2 loading for repetitive dives correctly (which is probably why they
lock it out if you violate it too badly.) Unlike some competitors,
however, the Suuntos continue to operate in 'gauge' mode while they are
locked out -- showing time and depth, temperature, max depth, but not
calculating deco status or loading.
