Dear students,

As you know, last year a new program for entering freshmen was
initiated called the Fresh Life. Participants are placed in learning
communities or cohorts, enrolling in four common courses, sharing
experiences, and enjoying the mentorship of faculty and
students. An important component of this program is the interaction
with student mentors assigned to each cohort.

As compensation for their service, student mentors, or Fresh Life
Teaching Assistants, will receive the equilavent of the in-state
maintenance fee. Two assistants are needed for each of five cohorts.

This year, we are initiating a new application process to identify
student mentors, or teaching assistants. Qualified applicants must have:
        a. completed English 122 with a minimum grade of B
        b. a cumulative gpa of 2.75
        c. completed General Education requirements in Math

Preference will be given to juniors and seniors. Applications must
include a letter of recommendation from a faculty member (excluding
Fresh Life faculty).

If you are interested, please submit your application form and a letter
of recommendation from a faculty member by April 15. You can access the
application form at
http://www.utc.edu/AssociateProvostForAcademicAffairs/
and submit it electronically, if you wish.
