NOTICE FOR STUDENTS WHO MAY BE COMPLETING A PRACTICUM, INTERNSHIP,
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE, ETC. IN A HEALTH CARE CARE DISCIPLINE
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations has
implemented a new policy that requires criminal background checks for
all persons who work or do clinical studies on those facilities.
Some affiliated clinical facilities may require a criminal
background check before allowing students to participate in training
programs at those facilities. Information revealed by a criminal
background check may cause an affiliated clinical facility to determine
that a student will not be allowed to participate in a training program
at the facility.
In that event, the student may be unable to complete the
requirements of the program. In addition, information revealed by a
criminal background check may preclude licensure or employment.
Students who are planning to complete such an educational
experience are advised to contact their program director for additional
information.
